3/16/2018-Endorphin Log # 3

Well back at the gym this morning.  I was actually awake at about 4:00 am with anticipation of going to the gym.  That was weird.

I did just a little bit more than I did before, same on the elliptical but another lap on the indoor track.  The main thing I am working on right now is building the habit of going to the gym.  More intense workouts will come, but for now I need to get in the habit of going.

I did weigh myself again, I have lost 4 lbs in the last week.  It is mostly due to the fact that I have started to gain control of my eating, but the exercise is helping.

When I was working out I was thinking about a time about four years ago.  I had just started a new position working for an old boss.  He was the person whom first hired me at the company I was working.  He was the program manager for this organization.  Prior to starting there I was working in the same building so I knew the people on the team.  Some of them I had worked with in the past.  In a staff meeting he introduced me to the team and complemented me on the weight I had recently lost.  It was the end of summer and I was riding my bike all summer.  I was down to about 265, I was feeling very good.  Everybody complemented me on how good I was looking.

Then a few weeks later I was part of a team that went to Las Vegas for a three week exercise.  We worked 16-18 hour days 20 days straight.  The rooms we where working had plenty of snacks and candy.  I started to eat right but soon that fell by the wayside with the long hours and candy.  I started to gain weight.

I have not been able to get back down there again.  Prior to leaving that job, I always had some shame that he had such pride in my accomplishment and now I gained weight and can’t seem to get back there.

I have noticed that when ever I have a change in my patterns, that is where I get into trouble.

With the job that I have now the travel is very minimal.  I am striving to build the good habits and keep them.  I have changed with I am doing exercise wise by just going to the gym and then will go from there.  Food, I am simply not snacking like I used to snack.  That has made a huge difference.

Today being Friday is a little bit of a challenge.  It is usually the day somebody brings doughnuts in.  My coworker and I are both trying to eat healthy so we decided no doughnuts.  When our boss came in a little later, he sent somebody else out for doughnuts.  We explained to him what we were doing, he chuckled and said he was going to enjoy his.  Some people would call that passive-aggressive, I am not going to put labels on it.
